This review goes out to all the families out there with smaller children who are on the lookout for a nice, calm, easy-going, friendly and warm family-driven hotel where one can relax as a parent and your children will have a great time. Party-people should go to the nearby towns of Hersonnissos or Malía instead, hence Klio Apart Hotel and the city of Gouves are better suited for families. I don't agree at all on the negative reviews in here but hopefully these people will stay at home next time, hence Klio Apart Hotel here in Gouves, Crete, Greece is indeed a great place to relax and spend time with the family during a summer-holiday.  The hotel is clean and proper as well as the pool and towels and bed-sheets get changed EVERY day by the staff except on Sundays. The staff is excellent and very friendly. One can sense the warm family-driven atmosphere from the moment one sets feet on the marble-floor at the entrance.  The restaurant is typical greek cuisine - obviously one shouldn't eat 3 meals a day from the same pan so one shouldn't put to much trust in a review written by a soul with a limited gastronomic horizont and an 'All Inclusive'-bracelet on the wrist - and one should expect tasty dishes with local ingredients (olives, tomatoes, feta-cheese etc.) at the Hotel and on the nearby local restaurants. The golden beach (150m from the hotel) and turqoise water is another reason to come here with your children, hence the water is shallow and lifeguards are on duty.  The local sunset in the evening is breath-taking and the perfect opportunity for Mum and Dad to hold hands whilst the children play on the beach before supper either at the Hotel or on some of the authentic Greek 'tavernas' along the coastal street. I will not hesitate for one second to recommend both Klio Apart Hotel and the city of Gouves, Crete to any family with smaller children on the look-out to find a nice place to spend the summer-holiday.  I will be coming back here with my family - no doubt about it!

Klio Apart Hotel is definitely place to recommend, atmosphere is friendly and my experience was like visiting relatives. There is a huge plus for people with dietary request like me, I am vegan. I was introduced to the main cook and kitchen staff to arrange my meals. I was served 1 or 2 dishes twice a day at lunch and dinner time, specially prepared for me, on top of regular buffet where there were plenty of food choices to suit my diet. Moreover, cook was treating me with deserts like cakes, puddings and fresh fruit slashes, all prepared just for me. My family had chance to try it all because the portions were really big, like for 3 people :). Big thanks for all people at Klio Apart Hotel. Place is very close to sandy beach with lifeguard, about 8 min walk with kids.

Klio Apart Hotel is a family run business in Gouves. It's only a short 5 minute 'flat' walk to the beach (so there's no stairs or steep inclines to encounter). You can choose an all inclusive package or self cater, there's even a mini market attached to the hotel stocked with a variety of items. Maria and Princess Lia are absolutely amazing, their customer service rates highly amongst the best we have ever come across!! Also Maria in the restaurant is brilliant and even though we only had one meal there, the food was delicious. The accommodation is older style yet everything is kept immaculately clean and tidy. Did we mention the incredible customer service from Maria and Lia, absolutely sensational.

I cannot recommend this hotel enough, the travel agency we booked through unfortunately went into administration 3 days before we were due to leave and the help we received from the manager Maria both via phone and email was fantastic, she put our minds at rest and rebooked our room so everything continued smoothly.

On arrival we received the warmest welcome from Maria and Leah on the reception desk, immediately shown to the dining room for some lovely home cooked cretan food and then to our room which was lovely and couldn't be faulted

The all inclusive food was lovely every day, with a good choice and another Maria in the dining room could not do enough to help you.. She is lovely too! The hotel has a nice family atmosphere and was perfect for our children of 3 and 6 as there is a small playground for them to play in whilst you overlook them from the terrace outside the dining room, you always feel they are safe The pool is very nice with plenty of sun loungers and a nice bar to serve home made biscuits, coffee, beers and ice cream throughout the day Klio is merely ten minutes walk from the beach and about fifteen minutes to the shops but the hotel was so nice we rarely went out in the evenings We did a lot of research and read a lot of reviews on this hotel before we booked and I can honestly say it was fantastic made up of the lovely people running it and helping you daily, the location and the food! Thank you to Maria and her team, they made our holiday 10/10
